New to Dance?

4 FACTORS THAT MAKE OUR STUDIO UNIQUE

If most studios seem to have: Qualified friendly teachers, Experience teaching children and a big show at the end of the year, Aren’t the all pretty much the same? Does it really matter where you decide to enroll your children?  Here are 4 factors that make a huge difference in the quality of instruction your child receives, the amount of extra work and hassles the parents must deal with, and the overall enjoyment and satisfaction of being involved with a dance program.

  • HOW ARE THE DANCE ROOMS CONSTRUCTED?

Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping. This can put stress on the bones and joints. Most dance footwear does not provide any cushioning or support. The best way to prevent potential injury is by choosing a studio with a professional “floating floor”. A floating floor is a dance floor that rests on a system of high-density foam to absorb the shock of jumping. A high density foam base is superior to a “sprung floor” which is usually consists of a wood structure built on the regular floor. Our 3 largest dance rooms have floating floors to protect our advanced dancers from such injury.

Room size is also very important. It is very difficult to practice a routine that will be performed on a full size stage in a tiny room. It can also become dangerous in large groups if dancers have to worry about running into one another. Our smallest dance rooms is equivalent to stage size while our larger rooms accommodate a stage along with backstage area to allow dancers to practice entering and exiting in the appropriate space without worry.

  • HOW WELL DOES CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT YOU?

Many studios have no one working the front desk while classes are running or have a student’s parent answering phones while classes are in session. As a result, customers have to wait to ask their questions or make payments.  We have 2 attendants on staff at all times at the front desk ready and willing to answer any questions you have and assist you with information, sales, payments, and anything else you can think of.

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THE INFORMATION I NEED?

Very often studio owners get busy teaching classes and do not have the support staff to supply the information you need to know what is going on ahead of time.  We have a full support staff and an information system that always keeps you informed well ahead of time as long as you use it. Newsletters go out every month on our websites news feed with an email to remind you to read it. Paper copies are also published in the studio.

Whenever important dates near, you will receive an email from the website’s news feed sent directly from our owner reminding you something important is almost near. All important schedules are also posted on the website news feed so you can always look back if you lose something. You’ll never miss a date!

  • HASSLE FREE PAYMENTS AND NO LATE FEES!

Most studios accept cash and personal checks with a late fee policy. If you forget to pay that bill on time just once, you’ll pay their late fee that month. We have adapted a hassle free, never have to think about it unless you want to, payment policy that allows you to go through the entire year never worrying about forgetting to pay your bill and getting a late fee. Ask us how it works!

TAKING DANCE CLASS IMPROVES A CHILD’S SELF WORTH AND DEVELOPS IMPORTANT REAL LIFE SKILLS

All parents want to do everything possible to ensure their child has the best opportunities for personal growth as they develop into young adults. But did you know that by choosing dance as an activity, you are actually strengthening their character and giving them skills they will use their entire life? That’s right!  Here are some things your child will take away from dance that will last their lifetime!

CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM

Studies show that when children participate in dance and receive proper feedback, both positive and negative, it builds their self-respect by helping learn to accept criticism as well as praise. Each time your child works on a routine and performs it, they’ll feel an enormous sense of accomplishment and pride. The more times they perform – even if it’s just for you in the living room, the more their self-esteem will grow.

DEVELOPING REAL LIFE SKILLS

Your dancer is sure to learn many real world skills through dance class including critical and creative thinking, hand-eye coordination, and basic motor skills. They’ll also learn persistence through higher level creative problem solving in movement. Children will also develop important social skills like taking turns, working as a team, effective communication to peers and authority figures, and sharing.

HIGHER TEST SCORES IN SCHOOL

A higher level of self-esteem has a direct affect on confidence in the classroom which leads to higher academic classroom values and test scores. In 2009, 12 years of data was collected for the National Educational Longitudinal Survey to study the effects of the performing arts on academics. The study found that the students highly involved in the arts outperformed less involved peers in all socioeconomic groups.

INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES FOR SELF EXPRESSION

Dance gives children a way to express themselves – especially in a classroom setting. It gives their “voice” a way to be heard by others. The joint effort of the group gives them a sense of acceptence while allowing them to feel they can express things in their own individual way. Dance becomes an outlet of freedom to express many things for individuals and it starts at a young age.

A SENSE OF BELONGING TO A COMMUNITY

Dance introduces children to new people and experiences. Children learn the importance of trust and develop interpersonal skills and friendships that can last a lifetime.
