Hip Hop Class

This is the latest “fad” or style of dance. Sometimes referred to as the street dancing or social dancing, it is based on jazz movements. Hip Hop classes provide an excellent work-out (aerobic style) while having fun. Students learn rhythm, coordination, isolations, basic dance steps and put it all into a routine they can “show off” to all their friends at parties, school dances and in the Academy’s annual performance.

Solos, Duets, And Trios

Students must be approved by their instructor and the Director in order to be in a solo, duet or trio. The student must be in competition level classes and must be taking 2 ballet classes a week to be given a solo, duet, or trio. Any students interested may let the instructor or Director know so that they may be evaluated.

Tumbling Class

Gymnastic floor work can be a great asset to any dancer or can be a lot of fun to learn all on its own.  The teacher will focus first on the basic elements and safety involved in tumbling and will continue to develop gymnastic skills according to the student’s level.  Dancers will begin learning these skills on mats and will advance to performing their skills on the floor.

Times and sessions of this class may vary.  Learn the classical and contemporary styles of couples dancing to impress your friends whether you’re out at the dance club or attending a wedding.  Private lessons for special occasions are also available as scheduling allows.

Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement. Pilates also helps prevent injury by teaching proper alignment and strengthening muscle groups around the joints

Yoga

Many people think that yoga is just stretching. But while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. The poses can be done quickly in succession, creating heat in the body through movement or more slowly to increase stamina and perfect the alignment of the pose.
