We are still in need of many chaperons for our children at the recital. A class chaperon is in charge of helping certain groups change costumes between numbers, keep an eye on them in the dressing rooms, walk the younger kids to the restrooms, etc. Remember that all chaperons do get to watch their kids dance right from the wings backstage, so you won’t miss a thing by volunteering. And audience members are not allowed backstage, so please do not plan on trying to watch the show and assist your dancer between numbers. If you’d still rather just sit back and watch the show we are happy to hire folks to assist your kids for you. Just remember each group member will be charged a $5 fee to do so as stated in our policy book. If you’re thinking about helping out, check at the desk next week to see if your class still needs volunteers. We’d be happy to have you! Deadline for all chaperons to sign up is May 10th.
As you registered for class at the beginning of the year, you were assigned a number. They were given out in the order in which you registered. According to that number, you have been assigned an appointment time to buy your tickets. No one will be taken before their appointment time.
Ticket sales are on Saturday, May 17th from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
If you cannot attend your appointment time, you may leave an envelope at the front desk with your name, buying number, appointment time, and how many tickets written on the front. Place a check inside for the appropriate amount along with any specifications as to where you would like to sit (closest to front, on an aisle, balcony, etc.). We will pick the best seats available at your appointment time according to these specifications.
If you miss your ticket purchasing time and did not leave an envelope for your tickets, you may purchase them at the desk anytime after May 19th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us!
THE COST FOR TICKETS IS: $17.00 EACH
-Children 3 years old or younger that will remain on a lap AND ARE NOT ANY TALLER THAN THE ADULT WHILE SITTING ON THE LAP are free.
-You do not have to buy a ticket for your dancer. They remain backstage in the dressing rooms for the entire show.
-If you are a recital volunteer working in a dressing room or backstage, you do not have to buy a ticket for yourself.

If your dancer is not a competitive dancer and is required to perform some/all of their dances in both shows: To ensure that all families get to see all of their dances within one show, it is sometimes necessary for dances to be performed in both recitals. For your convenience, you might qualify for one complimentary ticket to the second show. Here’s how…If you purchase all your tickets for one show – including your own, you will receive 1 free ticket to sit through the second show while your dancer performs. You may also choose to volunteer as a dressing room worker for the second show. Please ask us if you have questions about qualifying for the complimentary ticket.
Attention all graduating seniors: To be included on our graduates page in the yearbook, please make sure you turn in a wallet size senior picture to the office no later than April 30th. Turn them in today so you don’t forget!
For competition dancers, here are your performance and arrival times for next weekend.
PICTURE WEEK INFORMATION
Check the attached copy for your picture day and times. They may vary from your normal class times. Plan on arriving promptly at your ARRIVAL TIME not your picture time. This allows you time to change and prepare for your pictures.
DO NOT WEAR YOUR COSTUME FROM HOME. We will have one room designated as a dressing room. Accidents do happen, and if the costume were to get damaged, there would be nothing we could do. Boys will change in the boys’ locker room. Girls will have DANCE ROOM B designated as a “girls’ dressing room”. No fathers, brothers or other male family members will be allowed in the girls’ dressing room. Please plan accordingly.
Use light make-up to bring out your dancer’s natural features. Do not use stage make-up. If you have any questions about how to do your make-up, please ask your instructor.
Buying pictures is an option. You are not required to purchase them. However, please plan on attending the group photo session even if you aren’t buying individual pictures. All group shots are put in the annual yearbook that each family receives at the end of the year. There is no cost for participating in the group shot or getting the yearbook.
YEARBOOK ADS may be purchased during picture time. This is a special space in the yearbook that you can buy just for your child’s picture and a message from you to them. You MUST tell us at picture time if you are buying an ad.
If you are unable to attend your photo time, please let your teacher and the front desk know ahead of time. If a student is not present, we do make every effort to wait for them and contact them by phone. Please save us the time and unnecessary work by letting us know beforehand. If you cannot attend the group shot time but would like to still buy an individual shot of your dancer, please let us know BEFORE PICTURE WEEK and we will arrange an alternate time for your dancer to have their individual shot taken.
If you cannot attend your picture time but would like to have your dancer’s photo edited in to the group shot, we can do that! Have your dancer’s picture taken at a different time during picture week, and for a fee, the photographers will edit your dancer into the group photo! Please sign up for this feature before picture week at the front desk. You may pay for editing at the same time you pay for any/all pictures you are purchasing the week of pictures, but we must have a list of names taking advantage of this opportunity BEFORE any group shots are taken so that we leave a space open for the missing dancer(s)
If you have any questions concerning pictures, please feel free to ask us.

If you are not a competition student and received this notice, you are encouraged to attend and learn proper stage make-up technique. THIEVES ENTERING STUDIO!
A couple days ago, 3 unwelcome and unwanted guests entered our studio and stole a teen’s phone when she accidentally left it sitting on a table and walked away. Security has footage of them leaving our facility, recognizes them, and is on the look out for their return.
In an effort to protect all of our families, please help us send a message that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated at The Dance Academy by doing the following:
-Never leave valuables unattended. If your student must bring a phone to the studio, have them lock it in a locker or TURN IT OFF and carry it in a bag into the classroom (note: any cell phones in classrooms may not be used during class. They must be completely off). Carry all other purses, money, keys, etc. with you. Do not leave them sitting unwatched.
-MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you see anyone who does not belong in our facility or that you even think does not belong in our facility due to the way they are acting, come tell us at the front desk IMMEDIATELY. We have mall security at our disposal right outside the door. They will come in and escort the intruders out.
-Once thieves learn they haven’t got a chance at TDA, they will stop trying. Please help us keep them out!
Check this page often for information about what’s happening at The Dance Academy. Our notes are also emailed to the subscribers for this page.
If you are a dancer or the parent of a dancer and you’re not already subscribed, you can do so by adding your email in the area on the bottom right of this page.
Thank you for staying informed…
